Our Business Philosophy

We offer experienced, personal service to our clients at reasonable prices. And we don't close on April 15th only to open the following January. Our office remains open throughout the year, so we are always available for clients that have tax issues or need advice on how to plan for the future.

Our Company

Hartlaub Tax Service has served the community since 1968. Robert J. Hartlaub, Sr., established the company and continued as the principal owner and operator until 1981 when he retired. After Mr. Hartlaub retired, Bob, Jr., and Carol assumed the responsibilities of ownership and growth of the business. The practice primarily serves clientele in the Tri-State area, though many clients who have moved continue to rely on us for their tax needs every year. Hartlaub Tax Service, LLC is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals and remains a community fixture for many in Carthage and in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Who We Are

Robert J. Hartlaub, Jr.

Bob Hartlaub is a co-owner/partner and began work in the office in 1972. He took over co-ownership in 1982 when his father retired. Bob is a resident of Carthage and an active member of the community. He serves as President of the Carthage Civic League and has personally lobbyed the city of Cincinnati regarding issues which concern his fellow residents in the Carthage area. His dedication to professional service in business has permeated his responsibilities in the community and goes well noticed by those in the common wealth.

Carol J. Hartlaub

Carol Hartlaub has been with the company since the early days of the 1980's and has been a co-owner since 1982. She spearheads many of the technological upgrades that are necessary to keep the office "in-sync" with the rest of the business world. Although she works full time, she still finds time to serve on the Tax Commission of Greenhills, Ohio and is an active participant in her local church. She also is the business manager of a horse boarding facility owned and operated by her family. She has a unique ability to adapt to any new situation and to deal with problems that may arise with poise and ease. Many clients rely on this strength in her character to guide their financial processes throughout the year, even after the 15th of April.

Jenny Wellman

Jenny Wellman joined the company in 2000 as the administrative assistant and receptionist. She now serves as Office Manager, whose duties include overseeing all of the electronic filing programs now incorporated with tax preparation and providing general support to other members of the office. Her reliability, professional attitude and organizational skills have proved essential in the smooth day-to-day operation of the business. Her steadfastness and problem solving ability have made her an indispensable asset to the company.

Julie Schwettmann

Julie Schwettmann joined the team in 1990 and served as Office Manager for twelve years. Julie now works part time, but is still a valuable asset to the company. Her knowledge of tax preparation and her people skills make her an excellent front office person who greets our clientele and assists them with their tax concerns.
