Our Business Philosophy The philosophy that Robert J. Hartlaub, Sr. instilled in his employees and demonstrated to his clients is still the driving force behind the way we conduct business. It is very simple:
Quality service at very reasonable prices with a highly personal touch. Whether we are preparing a return or just talking with a client, we want to make sure that every person we do business with feels that he or she is treated with respect and shown that we look at each person as just that, a person, not a number.
Our Company Hartlaub Tax Service has been serving the community since 1968. Robert J. Hartlaub, Sr., established this service and continued as the principal owner and operator until 1981 when he officially retired. After Mr. Hartlaub retired, Bob, Jr., and Carol assumed the responsibilities of ownership and growth of the business. The practice now serves clientele from New York to California as well as local residents who have relied on its services from the beginning. Hartlaub Tax Service, LLC has become a community fixture for many people in Carthage and in the surrounding areas.

Robert J. Hartlaub, Jr. Bob Hartlaub is a co-owner/partner and began work in the office in 1972. He took over co-ownership in 1982 when his father retired. Bob is a resident of Carthage and an active member of the community. He serves as President of the Carthage Civic League and has personally lobbyed the city of Cincinnati regarding issues which concern his fellow residents in the Carthage area. Carol J. Hartlaub Carol Hartlaub has been with the office since the early days of the '80s and has been a co-owner since 1982. She spearheads many of the technological upgrades that are necessary to keep the office "in-sync" with the rest of the business world. She works full time and finds time to serve on the finance committee at Annunciation Church where she has been instrumental in assisting with their "Parish Center" building development program. She has a unique ability to adapt to any new situation and to deal with problems that may arise with poise and ease. Jenny Wellman Jenny Wellman joined the company in 2000 as an administrative assistant and receptionist. Her tasks during her time here have included maintaining order in and managing the front office, serving clients who are picking up their tax returns, and providing general support to other members of the office. Jenny is a devoted wife and a mother to twin boys, and, in her free time, volunteers at her childrens' school in a variety of capacities. Julie Schwettmann Julie Schwettmann joined the team in 1990 and served as the office manager for 12 years. An experienced tax preparer, she now focuses on serving clients in a more exclusive manner with regard to tax preparation and electronic filing. Her organizational skills and professional attitude have proved essential in the smooth "day-to-day" operation of the business.
